Ogden Trust funded internship programme
In July 2022, PAD-CIC had the opportunity to work with two interns from Franklin College Grimsby, in partnership with the Ogden Trust during their school holiday.
Josh and Hope were tasked to creating a written report to show the benefits of community-lead small scale renewable energy projects for social benefit. Their example was the “Humberston Eco Conservation Centre” Project managed by PAD-CIC. With this, they have the opportunity of winning a Gold Crest Award
Besides their report, they have also helped PAD by creating a video and learned media skills such as video editing, equipment setup and script writing.

“Throughout the 4-week internship at PAD-CIC.org, I have learned many new things which will help contribute towards my further education and my future career. I have learned about filming and editing. I learned about land and wildlife conservation and the United Nations SDGs Sustainable Development Goals. I learned how to find solutions to overcome problems. The internship has been an amazing opportunity for me, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I have gained so much experience and learnt so much, I feel confident I can apply to other projects in the future.”

“The four weeks at PAD-CIC.org have been very useful for my career progression and I have learned a lot about how “not for profit” organisations like them work. I learned some extremely valuable skills such as researching, team-working, time management and using feedback from my intern colleague Hope, and the PAD-CIC.org team to complete tasks. These skills will help me in my future career, hopefully studying computer science at university and working with the computing sector, where teamwork, time management and feedback are essential. I have enjoyed working with PAD-CIC.org and I will apply what they have taught me elsewhere in the future”

Throughout the summer holidays, Hope and Josh, 2 Franklin College students worked hard with me and my team. Together, they produced a written report which will be used to gain a Gold Crest Award.
The subject I presented to them was for them to research and understand how our “not-for-profit” organisation www.PAD-CIC.org works with the commercial sector on environmental and renewable energy projects and what financial etc challenges they face. They also decided to support the written report by learning how to use social media and hyperlinks which would help educate the viewer.
Both were thoroughly professional and courteous, and it was a pleasure to work with young people who are clearly destined to find careers in their specialist fields.
